Mission Statement

SUPERKIDS, the youth development program of the Triathlon Association of the Philippines, endeavors to cultivate a dynamic multi-sport environment in the Philippines, appropriate for the development of growing children and adolescents, which will prepare them for life-long participation in multi-sport.

Welcome to SUPERKIDS!

TrAP envisions a thriving and dynamic youth and junior multi-sport scene in the Philippines that is characterized by growing numbers of enthusiasts who will be doing some form of multi-sport for the rest of their lives. It also envisions that future champions of multi-sport events will come from this youth sector, properly trained and nurtured athletes who will represent triathlon and our country creditably on and off the playing field.

And, SUPERKIDS will be the lead program to achieve that dream!

The program will consist of races, training camps, lectures, demonstrations, and other training and educational activities for young multi-sport athletes, coaches, and parents, the main stakeholders of youth triathlon. All these activities will be designed to be appropriate for and tailored to the needs, health, and well being of young athletes.

One of its first official acts was to define the racing distances for each age group. These are:

SUPERKIDS Multisport Race Distances

* No open water for 10 below.
* Ideally, there should be three participants per category, otherwise ranking will be subject to necessary adjustments.
* Kickboards are allowed for the swim leg of U7 category.

Aside from a regularly updated bulletins, Coach Ani and I will be coming up with a regular column and/or articles and features that will address the issues that concern junior and youth multi-sport. This will come in the form of advice and advisories, training tips, equipment reviews, news, and commentaries.

We will encourage interaction with our readers and try to respond to your emails and communications in a reasonable amount of time. Please feel free to e-mail us at superkids@triathlon.org.ph. We will respond either directly or through this web page.

Feel free to ask about anything that concerns the youth and participation in multi-sport: training, nutrition, behavior, values and ethics, proper behavior, rules, suggestions, or anything that you feel concerns youth multi-sport. If we are uncomfortable with the topic or cannot answer, we will say so and refer your concerns to the proper party. If you don't like to write, approach us at an appropriate time when you see us at the races and talk to us. We do want to get to know you.

We look forward to making the youth multi-sport scene the best it can be and we look forward to working with you to achieve our dreams and objectives.

Yours in multi-sport,

Coach Rick and Coach Ani
